With
conceptual input from other staff members (I also teach several multimedia/games dev subjects
in this program), I have developed these online systems for the Multimedia Program
at Victoria University - work began in 2002.
Research and development is ongoing with these projects to improve system functionality,
analyse how they are being used - and how useful they are for both staff and
students.
This dynamic online system developed using Cold Fusion as a tool to aid in the documentation of teaching materials and methods for AQTF compliance.
Staff can access all training package information on the subjects they are delivering, they can upload documents required for AQTF compliance and can also upload resources for students. The functionality includes: personal class review notes; management of pastoral care issues, access to information on students and results; communication with groups of students via a group email function.
Students can access their own results and see training package information for subjects they are enrolled in.
The site allows contract and session staff (and students) across two campuses to manage all AQTF documentation from one online website. The system also allows for user-friendly data entry so time consiming paper file management and form filling is not required. It also means staff can easily share information for subject delivery and pastoral care.

This blog system includes a group email function, file upload, and threaded blogs. Staff can create their own versions of this blog system for class delivery purposes, project management, or a personal diary system. Users include:

This dynamic online
system developed using Cold Fusion as a tool for documenting teaching resources
such as
URLs, electronic files, CD ROM/DVD and other storage media, publications.
The system is also used for documenting student work for archival and information retrieval purposes.

This dynamic online
system developed using Cold Fusion to allow contract and sessional staff to
communicate ideas and information
about group collaborative projects funded by Learnscope.
The system functions as a weblog and email list - members can select the option to have all blogs emailed to them.
The system also functions to provide documentation of meetings and work undertaken by staff on these group projects.

This dynamic online
system developed using Cold Fusion as a tool to aid students with scripting/coding
in their multimedia projects - especially those students undertaking the major
research project.
The system functions as a weblog and email list - members can select the option to have all blogs emailed to them.
Students can assist
each other by sharing information on the blog and asking for help with a variety
of issues -
staff and industry specialists can also respond to students' requests for assistance
with scripting/coding issues.
This system is particularly useful as students exist on two different campuses
and often don't get to meet each other.
With this system, a dialogue can happen which is useful for the students participating,
and possibly also for other students searching for answers to common questions.
